Atlanta Cement Plant Shows Its Commitment to the Environment by Joining the 13th Annual Sweep the Hooch Event

For the past several years, Our Atlanta Plant has been a proud participant in the annual “Sweep the Hooch” event organized by Chattahoochee Riverkeeper. This event aims to clean and protect the Chattahoochee River, which is a vital water resource for the Atlanta community. This year marks the thirteenth year for the event, and Our Atlanta Plant is once again joining the cause to make a difference.

During the event, our Atlanta Plant team and other volunteers will comb sections of the Chattahoochee River, collecting and removing litter. The team is dedicated to making a difference in the community by keeping the river clean and healthy. The collected litter will be sorted, and all the tires will be sent to our Harleyville cement plant to be incinerated in our kiln, which is specially equipped to burn tires. This process is an environmentally friendly way to dispose of the tires and also helps our Harleyville Plant reduce its carbon footprint. Additionally, all the metal collected will go into our metal recycling, reducing the waste sent to landfills.

We believe that sustainability is a collective responsibility and that small actions can make a big difference. By partnering with Chattahoochee Riverkeeper, we are contributing to a larger cause and sending a message of environmental stewardship. We encourage other businesses and individuals to join us in making a difference in the community by taking small steps to reduce waste and protect the environment.
